About us
By integrating scientific and experiential evidence and the synergistic work of an interdisciplinary team of experts, we help you successfully to recover from an injury or painful syndrome and improve your health, fitness and performance in sports and daily life.
The human body and mind are a very complex and adaptable systems. In order successfully to transform an individual's health, performance and well-being, it is necessary to consider the complexity of the individual's interaction with the environment (epigenetics) and the complex interdependence of a person's physical, emotional, energy and mental state.
The uniqueness of our approach to optimizing the human health, performance and well-being of athletes and non-athletes is based on striking a balance between the physical, emotional, energy and mental components of the human body and mind. At the outset, it is necessary to determine which of the aforementioned components of the human body and mind deviate most from balance, thus limiting the biological vitality and adaptability to the environment (stress) of each individual. Based on this information, gathered through extensive diagnostics, it is possible to customize more precisely an intervention that, with a minimum of expenditure of time, energy and other resources, will achieve the desired transformation:
Sports and traumatic injuries to the locomotor system, as well as degenerative disorders, or non-specific pain syndromes are our constant companions in life with a potential to limit considerably our functioning and quality of life.
The uniqueness of MM’s approach to an injury and pain conditions treatment is based on two approaches – process-oriented approach and bio-psyco-social approach. Within the process-oriented approach, there are three processes through which a patient may fully recover or get better:
The determination which of these processes would critically contribute to a particular patient’s recovery and the selection of adequate procedures that facilitate the process play a key role in our process-oriented approach.
Tissue restoration or reparation contributes considerably to a patient’s recovery after acute sports and traumatic injuries. The following procedures are applied to stimulate optimal tissue healing: physical therapy (cryotherapy, ultrasound, laser, etc.), relief in the acute phase of recovery and progressive loading of tissue in the later stages of recovery (kinesitherapy, training sessions).
Adaptation contributes considerably to a patient’s recovery after a long-term immobilisation and physical inactivity. The primary procedure by which we stimulate the adaptation is the application of targeted exercises and progressive loads put on the locomotor system (kinesitherapy, training sessions). These processes provoke adaptive changes in numerous human organ systems and tissues – myofascial, bone, nervous, metabolic, cardio-respiratory and endocrine adaptation.
The symptoms and pain alleviation contribute considerably to a patient’s recovery from acute and chronic non-specific pain syndromes, where there is no sign of injuries or tissue degeneration (e.g. lower back pain). The primary procedures by which the symptoms are attenuated include the following: osteopathy, acupuncture, certain physics-related procedures (shock wave) and an adequate workload (kinesitherapy).
In addition to the mentioned process-oriented approach, the following is considered in the treatment of injuries and painful disorders: psycho-social and emotional factors, lifestyles, beliefs, and the behaviour of our patients. Namely, it is well known that all these factors may have a considerable influence on pain perception and the success of recovery.
The combination of these two approaches – the process-oriented and the bio-psycho-social approach – characterises the work of our team of osteopaths, physiotherapists and kinesitherapists who have specialised in the prevention, conservative and post-surgery treatment, management of injuries and painful conditions of the locomotor system, all in cooperation with prominent Croatian physicians.
The following are some of the most relevant techniques, methods and procedures we use in order to facilitate repair, adaptation and symptom alleviation in the patients:
